Trump’s “America First” budget proposal debuted yesterday. Despite its title, the budget seems to target Americans, by eliminating and severely cutting federal agencies and popular programs and putting that money into defense. . It would gut the state department, environmental protection, cut funding for scientific research and programs that impoverished people rely on for food, heat, and other vital services.
Congress is already balking. We need them to push back hard to truly put Americans first.
ELIMINATES funding:
- National Endowment for the Arts
- Climate-change prevention programs, including pledged payments to U.N. climate-change programs
- Corporation for Public Broadcasting
- International climate-change programs
- Institute of Museum and Library Sciences
- Senior Community Service Employment Program, which helps low-income seniors find work
