Action: We Are Voting In Droves. Trump Is Scared. He Is Losing.

WE ARE VOTING IN DROVES. TRUMP IS SCARED. HE IS LOSING.

caely.barrett@gmail.com

Background

We have the will of the people. We are voting in droves. Trump can see the writing on the wall. He is weak and knows he is losing.

That is why Trump and his GOP are doing everything they can to keep us from voting.

Why Trump is trying to trick us into thinking our votes do not count by refusing a peaceful transfer of power.

Why he is forcing through his illegitimate Supreme Court nominee who will

  • rip away our healthcare during a pandemic

  • strip us of abortion rights forcing us to bear children/give birth

  • punish immigrants for moving for better life

  • reverse LGBTQ rights

because he needs his Supreme Court nominee to give him the presidency after he loses.

We will not back down. We must see through Trump’s bluster – a desperate attempt to cling to power.

We must call our Senators. Urge them to support Schumer’s plan to use every available tool to make sure there is no Supreme Court conformation until after the next inauguration.

Then do everything possible get out the vote. Make your voting plan NOW. Help friends and family make their voting plan NOW. Take action to get out the vote NOW.

Action: We Can Demand Leaders Who Care About Our Well-Being

WE CAN DEMAND LEADERS WHO CARE ABOUT OUR WELL-BEING

caely.barrett@gmail.com

Background

We need a country in which the health and well-being of every American is important.

We demand leadership that has more regard for human life than for political advantage.

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will provide that leadership. They will:

  • Pass pandemic relief rather than pushing to ideologically stack the Supreme Court.

  • Restore faith in our public health institutions by protecting them from political manipulation.

  • Ensure that scientists and health professionals, not political hacks, are making vital public health decisions.

  • Protect the ACA and ensure affordable health care for all Americans.

  • Remove the chaos and racism from our health care system.

  • Protect a woman’s right to choose and have access to reproductive health care.

“Someday there will be great people, great elected representatives who will say, ‘enough of this nonsense, let’s be the kind of legislature the United States should have.' I hope that day will come when I’m still alive." - Justice Ginsburg, 2017

We honor RBG’s memory by making this happen now.  We demand that our MoCs work for a Supreme Court that represents all of us – not just Trump and his GOP.

And we must get out the vote for Joe, Kamala, and Democrats across the board. "My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed.”

Action: RBG’s Legacy: Dissent & The Rule Of Law

RBG'S LEGACY: DISSENT & THE RULE OF LAW

caely.barrett@gmail.com

Background

Democrats help us and uphold the rule of law. Trump's GOP help themselves and uphold the rule of Trump.

Trump knew the danger COVID-19 posed in January. He lied, undermined federal agencies designed to help, and 200,000 of us have died. Barr corrupted our DOJ to serve Trump's legal needs and authoritarian demands -- and lied to Congress. We and the Constitution demand the House impeach them.

Senate Democrats must be a strong opposition party. They must use every procedural tool at their disposal to block confirmation of yet another unqualified GOP ideologue and Trump sycophant.

RBG's last wish "... should not be read as the fleeting hope bubbles of a dying old lady, but as an exhortation to fight from the fiercest defender of women’s rights of her generation. This was her dying dissent: a message not about what Trump and McConnell should do, but about what we must do." We must honor her legacy with our dissent. We must call our MOCs daily to insist they protect us and our democracy. We must work, despite our grief, to get out the vote and win the Presidency, flip the Senate, and hold the House. Together we must. Together we can.

FIGHT: No New Justice Til ’21. Pass HEROES Act.

Background

"My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed.”

                                                            —RBG on her deathbed

We have our marching orders. Ruth Bader Ginsberg would want us to fight for precedent, fairness, and the rule of law. At the same time, continue to demand that our Congress take care of all of us, and pass the HEROES Act. Either before the continuing resolution or as part of it.

Make your calls now and every day this week. Then write letters and postcards to voters with Indivisible Oregon. Make phone calls with us. Donate money for races in swing states here or here and for the presidency here. To quote Sen. Merkley: “Ditch Mitch, dump Trump, save America.”
