ACTION ONE: CALL YOUR HOUSE REP

Not sure who your U.S. Representative is? Find out here.

SAMPLE SCRIPTS FOR REPRESENTATIVES:

My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon [zip code]. I am calling because…
For Blumenauer: I am calling to thank the Representative for voting to impeach Donald Trump, whose ongoingbehavior poses a clear and present danger to our Constitution and our democracy. I also thank him for leading the way and working with House leadership not to transmit the impeachment articles to the Senate until McConnell can guarantee (1) a fair, impartial and transparent trial during which jurors promise to keep an open mind and (2) consideration of relevant witness and documentary evidence
For Bonamici, DeFazio, Schrader: I am calling to thank the Representative for voting to impeach Donald Trump, whose ongoingbehavior poses a clear and present danger to our Constitution and our democracy. I agree with Speaker Pelosi that until McConnell can guarantee (1) a fair, impartial and transparent trial during which jurors promise to keep an open mind and (2) consideration of relevant witness and documentary evidence the House should not to transmit the impeachment articles to the Senate.
For Walden: I was sorry to hear that Rep. Walden lacked the courage to do your constitutional duty and vote for the articles of impeachment against Donald Trump. History will judge him accordingly, recognizing that he refused to speak out against Trump’s trampling on the rule of law, and put party over country rather than protecting the integrity of our elections.

ACTION TWO: CALL YOUR SENATORS

SAMPLE SCRIPT FOR WYDEN AND MERKLEY:

My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon [zip code]. I am calling because…
am calling to thank the Senator for supporting the impeachment process and ask that he do all that he can to prepare the Senate for a fair trial by advocating strongly for and rejecting anything less than (1) a fair, impartial and transparenttrial, (2) the recusal of all Senators who cannot agree to keep an open mind and consider all of the evidence, (3) the subpoenaing of relevant witnesses and documentary evidence, and (4) an agreement that both sides have the opportunity to present their cases

BACKGROUND:

Yesterday Donald Trump received the dubious distinction of being only the third President to be impeached by the House and the first while seeking reelection. His abuse of power and obstruction of Congress are latest examples of his ongoing, dangerous disdain for the rule of law, evidenced by payment of hush money to a porn star during his candidacy, use of presidency to enrich himself, and cover-up of Russian involvement in the 2016 election—just what Framers sought to prevent.
While this vote will forever stain Trump’s presidency, to protect our democracy the Senate must vote to convict. Failure to do so will allow Trump’s lawlessness and election interfering to continue unabated.
All Senators must promise to “do impartial justice,” an impossibilityunder present format—where some jurors reject impartiality, andMcConnelplans strategy with defense attorneys, refuses Dems’ request for witnesses and documentsand announces trial’s outcome (not guilty)—unless Senators unwilling to listen to evidence recuse themselves.
Until Senate leadership commits to fairimpartial, transparent trial with witness and document production, House must not send it impeachment articles. Only this willcurb Trump’s continued attempts to undermine election’s integrity whilesimultaneously protecting the impeachment sanction
