ACTION: Call on Jeff Sessions to Resign

From Indivisible Oregon:

**CALL TO ACTION**
Friday, March 3rd
Once again, a member of Trump's cabinet lied about his communications with an enemy to our national security: Russia. We must demand the resignation of Attorney General Jeff Sessions, the appointment of a special prosecutor, and a full public investigation.
Sessions announced he’ll recuse himself from the Dept. of Justice’s investigation into the Trump-Russia connection, where he will be investigated and could face criminal charges. But -- as long as Sessions is AG, he can pressure investigators to influence the outcome. That’s why recusal is not enough. America needs a path to truth and to preserve the integrity of the Dept. of Justice.
Where Oregon’s Members of Congress stand:
- Senator Merkley and Reps. Bonamici, Blumenauer and Schrader have all called on Sessions’ to resign.
- Senator Wyden and Rep. DeFazio haven’t gone as far, calling for a special prosecutor to make sure the administration does a thorough, impartial review.
- And of course, where’s Rep. Walden again...?
Now more than ever, we need Sessions to resign, a special independent prosecutor to be appointed, and a full, public investigation.

“My name is [--] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon, zip code [---]. I am calling to THANK [Sen. Merkley/Rep. Bonamici/Blumenauer/Schrader] for urging Jeff Sessions to resign his position. I’d like to urge [him/her] to also publicly push for the appointment of a special, independent prosecutor and a complete, public investigation into Trump’s ties to Russia. Will the [Senator/Representative] take this position?”
Sample script for Senator Wyden and Rep. DeFazio
“My name is [--] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon, zip code [---]. I am calling to THANK [Sen. Wyden/Rep. DeFazio] for urging the appointment of a special prosecutor to oversee the investigation of Team Trump’s ties to Russia, including the contacts with Attorney General Jeff Sessions. I’d like to urge [Senator/Representative] to also publicly push for Sessions to RESIGN, and a complete, public investigation into Trump’s ties to Russia. Will the [Senator/ Representative] take this position?
Sample script for Representative Walden
“My name is [---] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon, zip code [---]. I’m deeply disturbed that Jeff Sessions is the third member of Trump’s leadership team to come under scrutiny for conversations with Russia during the campaign (after Paul Manafort and Michael Flynn). Sessions’ confirmation testimony raises serious questions about his integrity and threatens to overshadow and influence the Dept. of Justice as a whole. I urge Rep. Walden to speak out for Sessions to resign, for appointment of a special, independent prosecutor to oversee the investigation into Trumps’ ties to Russia, and for a complete, public investigation. More than ever before, we need reassurances that this administration is working for the American people, not for our political enemy.”
