* Oregon's ballots were mailed October 16. If you don't receive yours by October 23, call the Clatsop County Elections Office ASAP - 503-325-8605.   VOTE THE ENTIRE BALLOT Local elections are often won by a handful of votes. State and local governments affect day-to-day life – taxes, roads, schools, emergency services, public safety, and more.  Ballots are due or must be postmarked by 8 pm, Tuesday, November 5. Make sure you put your completed ballot in the mail at least SEVEN days before the election because all local mail now is shipped to Portland for postmarking. No postage is required to mail your ballot.  Drop boxes throughout Clatsop County are listed here.   YOUR VOTE MATTERS Republicans win when Democrats don’t vote. Democrats win when Democrats vote. Andy’s priorities are housing, healthcare and education. He tackles business and county budgets and policies with calm and common sense. He works to bring people together for effective, practical problem-solving on the County Budget Committee and as an Astoria City Councilor. Andy puts people over politics to find solutions for our rural and coastal issues. JAVADI'S LIES: A mailer last week from current state representative Cyrus Javadi lies about INCO and distorts Andy Davis's record. Javadi accuses INCO of being extremists backing issues INCO has never discussed or voted on. Javadi lies about INCO to get re-elected, so what else does he lie about?  BE AN ELECTION OBSERVER Astoria Democrat Jan Mitchell has been organizing election observers for years and is asking for volunteers this year. The job entails sitting and watching for 2 hours to ensure proper protocol is being observed, and reporting back to her at the end of your shift. She must provide a list of people with phone numbers to the County Clerk. Only those on the list will be admitted. If you have questions, please call her at 503-791-4862. This will be an invaluable and empowering event! TOBIAS READ FOR OREGON SECRETARY OF STATE The most important take-away from the recent COINversation with Tobias Read was that there's probably not a race in the country where there is a bigger contrast between opposing candidates. His Republican opponent, Dennis Linthicum, Is unwilling to commit to certifying elections, fought to end Oregon's Vote-by-Mail system all the way to the Supreme Court (and fortunately lost), and refuses to acknowledge that Biden won the election.     If a candidate running to be in charge of our state's elections and who is next in line to the governor can't acknowledge that Joe Biden won in 2020, we need to make sure he loses this election in a landslide! Please share this information and vote for Tobias Read for Oregon Secretary of State.  ELIZABETH STEINER FOR OREGON TREASURER PAY SPECIAL ATTENTION TO THE OREGON TREASURER'S RACE! Elizabeth Steiner, the Democratic candidate, is up against not just a Republican opponent and a third-party candidate endorsed by both the Working Families Party and the Pacific Green Party. This candidate has exactly ZERO chance to win, but she has a very STRONG chance to be a spoiler for Steiner. If that happens, and the Republican candidate Brian Boquist wins, we are in SERIOUS trouble, folks.  Accoring to the Oregon Capital Chronicle:   "He is barred from running for reelection to the Senate under a voter-approved law that punishes lawmakers who miss 10 or more days of work. He and nine Republican senators staged a record six-week-long walkout during the legislative session last year in opposition to bills on abortion access, gun control and transgender health care. He’s also been involved in several other high-profile Republican walkouts over the years, including one in 2019 over climate legislation when he told Oregon State Police to “send bachelors and come heavily armed” if they wanted to drag him back to the Capitol."
