OPPOSE CLAYTON FOR SEC CHAIR -- HEARING 3/23/17

Walter J. “Jay” Clayton, a partner at the powerful Sullivan & Cromwell’s law firm, has actively fought for the right of Wall Street to engage in practices that have bankrupted middle class homeowners while enriching the 1%. Yet, as Trump’s nominee to lead the Security and Exchange Commission, he is now expected to police those practices. Consider these points:

 -- He maintains many personal and financial ties to predatory banks. His wife is a Goldman Sachs advisor.

 -- He has represented Goldman Sachs, Lehman Bros, and even Volkswagen in their emissions scandal.

-- He currently represents Deutsche Bank, defending their $10 billion Russian money-laundering scheme

“The SEC is responsible for rooting out financial crime such as fraud as well as ensuring capital markets are fair for all investors, “ says Trump.  Why, then, nominate someone who worked overtime to make sure that corruption and fraud remain unpunished?
