ACTION: Continue to Call in Opposition to AHCA

From Indivisible Oregon...

**CALL TO ACTION**

TRUMPCARE IN TURMOIL! KEEP CALLING! KEEP VISITING!

#ProtectOurCare
Yesterday, the GOP delayed the House AHCA vote because they knew they would lose. Why? Partly because bullying dissenting Republican MOC’s has backfired, but partly because of the INTENSE PRESSURE from constituents all across the US. Keep it up! It is working! Besides the usual points about coverage loss, increased costs to families, and YUGE tax breaks for the wealthy, consider these recent “revision” concessions to the far right:
- “Non-disabled” Medicaid work requirements. FACT: ill people—especially the mentally ill—often are not granted disability for YEARS. They CAN’T work.
- Phasing out ACA taxes that make the plan viable NOW—not next year.
- Changes to Medicaid that could restrict enrollment even more.
- Elimination of a provision that allowed tax-credit recipients to put them in health savings accounts.

ACTION 1: CALL YOUR US REPRESENTATIVE TODAY. AGAIN.
ACTION 2: VISIT YOUR HOUSE REP’S OFFICE IN PERSON. You don’t need an appointment.
ACTION 3: CALL FRIENDS AND FAMILY
...and ask them to do the same. Especially if they’re in red Congressional districts! Here's a list of Congresspeople who need pressuring: http://bit.ly/2nOh8NK
SAMPLE SCRIPT FOR PHONE CALLS AND IN-PERSON VISIT:
(IMPORTANT: If you are not in Walden’s district, thank your Rep for opposing the AHCA. If you are in Walden’s district, tell a personal story about how the AHCA will hurt YOU or your friends and family members)
“My name is [--] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon. I am encouraged that public pressure has led to a delay in the House vote on the AHCA. Recent AHCA concessions to the right wing have made the bill even worse. That is why I am calling (again) to URGE Representative [--] to vote NO--whenever the vote is. Please keep this bill from passing to the Senate! “
