Longtime community and INCO activist Jean Dominey, 92 years old and a hospice patient, was thrilled she got to vote in this election!
Party-goers from around the US, Wales, and Japan celebrated Kamala Harris' birthday a week ago by writing postcards and calling voters during this event. Kudos to INCO activist and leader Beeb Ashcroft (top row, center in the screenshot) for hosting.

OUTSTANDING OUTREACH
Writing from home and at WineKraft since last February, several dozen INCO postcarders wrote 9,698 postcards to voters in Oregon and around the US. Plus, other Indivisibles wrote letters and postcards to voters on their own. Adding all those up, it appears that INCO Indivisibles wrote 10,000-12,000 messages urging people to vote!
KUDOS TO EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATED!
BE A SCRUTINEER
Emily Levy, the founder of Scrutineers, joined INCO for a special presentation last week called "How YOU Can Protect the Election From Home" and provided invaluable information on how you can do election protection work from home, even if you only have a few minutes and are not skilled at using a computer. Emily has been involved with election protection work for 20 years, and shares how people can volunteer to do everything from following up on any discrepancies with poll tapes to observing the vote count via livestream, all from home. Get involved by filling in this form.
This replay will be available until November 3rd at 11:59 PM PST. This includes a transcript and automatic summary of the video and each chapter, which makes it easy to navigate. Replay link ishere. Passcode: 5Lh?NT&E

OWNERS OF WASHINGTON POST AND LA TIMES CAPITULATE
"It crept in overnight, while we were sleeping. Fascism showed its face not with jackboots and concentration camps…not yet, anyway…but rather as just another day in Capitalist America. Two major media companies, the Washington Post and the LA Times, made decisions to capitulate to the man they fear will be elected president before a single vote has been counted. They decided not to run editorials endorsing their preferred candidate for president, Kamala Harris, because the owners of the companies, Jeff Bezos and Patrick Soon-Shiong, are afraid if they anger Donald Trump, he will hit them where it hurts: In their pocketbooks.
"This is the way it happens. An autocrat like Donald Trump, with his history of impulsive decisions and threats against perceived enemies, has two billionaires cowering in fear, and he didn’t even have to pick up the phone." --Lucian Truscott IV, on Substack, October 26, 2024

ELIZABETH STEINER FOR OREGON TREASURER
The third-party candidate has no chance to win, but has a strong chance to be a spoiler for Steiner, letting GOP candidate Brian Boquist win. Boquist has been involved in high profile Republican walkouts from the legislature, threatening Oregon State Police if they tried to get him back to work in Salem.
You can be an election observer in Clatsop County, watching for two hours to ensure proper protocol in being observed. Please contact Jan Mitchell if you'd like to volunteer. BE AN ELECTION OBSERVER
Astoria Democrat Jan Mitchell has been organizing election observers for years and is asking for volunteers this year. The job entails sitting and watching for 2 hours to ensure proper protocol is being observed, and reporting back to her at the end of your shift. She must provide a list of people with phone numbers to the County Clerk. Only those on the list will be admitted. If you have questions, please call her at 503-791-4862. Ballots are processed and counted at the county's Boyington Building, 857 Commercial, Astoria.
Jan says, "Please take this request seriously and look for a time when you can help. The most reliable and significant time slots are for the days immediately before and after the actual election - November 4th, 5th, and 6th, between 9AM and 5PM. Afternoon hours will depend on the flow of ballots from the mail and are subject to change. I will stay informed and will contact you if hours change. I live nearby and can be at the Boyington Building in 5 minutes. Parking is available at their lot reached by entrances on 8th and 9th streets."
YOU CAN PROTECT THE ELECTION FROM HOME
Thursday, October 24th, 7PM PST, via Zoom Hosted by INCO and Scrutineers
Join INCO and Emily Levy, the founder of Scrutineers for a special presentation of her can't-miss workshop "How You Can Help Protect the Election – From Your Home", followed by a Q&A. You can help maintain a free and fair electoral process in another state, or even several states! Tasks are flexible, with time commitments ranging from a few minutes long to full days, and can be done even if you are not skilled at using a computer or have a disability. This will be an invaluable and empowering event!
TOBIAS READ FOR OREGON SECRETARY OF STATE
The most important take-away from the recent COINversation with Tobias Read was that there's probably not a race in the country where there is a bigger contrast between opposing candidates. His Republican opponent, Dennis Linthicum, Is unwilling to commit to certifying elections, fought to end Oregon's Vote-by-Mail system all the way to the Supreme Court (and fortunately lost), and refuses to acknowledge that Biden won the election.
If a candidate running to be in charge of our state's elections and who is next in line to the governor can't acknowledge that Joe Biden won in 2020, we need to make sure he loses this election in a landslide! Please share this information and vote for Tobias Read for Oregon Secretary of State.
ELIZABETH STEINER FOR OREGON TREASURER PAY SPECIAL ATTENTION TO THE OREGON TREASURER'S RACE!
Elizabeth Steiner, the Democratic candidate, is up against not just a Republican opponent and a third-party candidate endorsed by both the Working Families Party and the Pacific Green Party. This candidate has exactly ZERO chance to win, but she has a very STRONG chance to be a spoiler for Steiner. If that happens, and the Republican candidate Brian Boquist wins, we are in SERIOUS trouble, folks. Accoring to the Oregon Capital Chronicle:
"He is barredfrom running for reelection to the Senate under a voter-approved law that punishes lawmakers who miss 10 or more days of work. He and nine Republican senators staged a record six-week-long walkout during the legislative session last year in opposition to bills on abortion access, gun control and transgender health care. He’s also been involved in several other high-profile Republican walkouts over the years, including one in 2019 over climate legislation when he told Oregon State Police to “send bachelors and come heavily armed” if they wanted to drag him back to the Capitol."
Please cast your ballot for Elizabeth Steiner and spread the word!
VOTER TURNOUT WILL DECIDE THE 2024 ELECTION.
