ACTION: CALL TO STOP TAX REFORM

From Indivisible Oregon...

**CALL TO ACTION**
Wednesday, June 9, 2017
—————————————————————————————
STOP TAX REFORM THAT WILL CUT OUR SAFETY NET
—————————————————————————————
#ProtectMedicaid
#ProtectMedicare
The GOP lost the battle to pass Trumpcare but it still has plans to give tax breaks to the wealthy and cut our safety net—this time via the budget.
Republicans are bent on rewriting the tax code by cutting taxes:
• Corporations and the wealthy would receive huge breaks.
• The middle class would receive a small tax reduction
• http://bit.ly/2vI0S43http://bit.ly/2ukKas0
To pay for these tax cuts, they plan to slash our safety net. The process has begun. The House Budget Committee cut all non-defense spending, including Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security http://theatln.tc/2ukEtKk
The GOP will likely use the same process used for healthcare: passing the budget via reconciliation, which requires only 50 votes http://bit.ly/2ufCffx
We have to fight this the way we fought Trumpcare, by showing up at town halls, making daily phone calls, and protesting. We must tell our MoCs to:
• Oppose tax cuts for corporations or the wealthy
• Oppose cuts to Medicaid and Medicare
• Oppose any new tax code until Trump releases his taxes
We must protect our safety net – no matter how the GOP tries to shred it.

(Leave a message if you can’t get through.)
SAMPLE SCRIPT
“My name is [--] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon [zip code]. I am calling to ask [Name] to oppose any new tax cuts for corporations or the wealthy; to oppose any plan that keeps corporate loopholes in place or jeopardizes Medicaid and Medicare; and to oppose any new tax code until President Trump releases his tax returns, so we can see exactly how he will benefit.
Thank you.”
