REPUDIATE TRUMP’S HATRED AND BIGOTRY: DEFUND MASS DEPORTATION MACHINE AND RESCIND MUSLIM BAN

Trump’s refusal to denounce the racism and bigotry on display in Charlottesville http://nyti.ms/2vHdpCo and his incessant scapegoating of immigrants—especially Hispanics and Muslims—are two sides of the same coin.
This racism permeates Trump’s radical immigration enforcement budget which
• Requests $23 billion for his wall
• Expands prisons for immigrant families
• Hires 2000+ ICE and Border Patrol employees
http://nyti.ms/2sYOR5G, http://bit.ly/2fJqdo3
Trump also seeks a 25% cut in refugee resettlement services and 50%+ reduction in refugee admissions http://dpo.st/2uJu4Ig And, with Supreme Court intervention and executive branch policy changes, the Muslim ban still stands http://nyti.ms/2u5Ay0J.
Federal agencies cannot terrorize communities, tear families apart, and build a pointless wall without Congressional funding.
Our MoCs must:
• Convince their colleagues not to fund Trump’s border wall, detention caps and mass deportation force.
• Urge Congress to end the Muslim ban by passing the Solve Act/HR.1503 (rescinding Muslim ban and prohibiting enforcement funding); S.608 (rescinding Muslim ban) & S.549 (declaring it unconstitutional and withholding funding)
The GOP supports Trump’s agenda (http://bit.ly/2x5aMKh) and the battle over this funding could result in a government shutdown. But we must stand up for what is right and stop this racist agenda from taking over our country.

**ACTION 1: CALL YOUR SENATOR AND REPRESENTATIVE (if you can’t call during business hours, leave a voice mail! It all makes a difference!)**
SAMPLE SCRIPT FOR OUR SENATORS AND YOUR REP
“My name is [--] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon [zip code]. I am very concerned that my tax dollars will be used to fund fear rather than investing in America’s families. I urge you reject any budget that includes increases to Trump’s deportation force and to defund the Muslim ban. Thank you.”

**ACTION 2: GO TO A TOWN HALL AND ASK OUR MoCS TO DEFUND TRUMP’S ANTI-IMMIGRANT AGENDA
(http://bit.ly/IO_Events)
SAMPLE SCRIPT FOR
“My name is [--] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon [zip code]. I am very concerned that my tax dollars will be used to fund fear rather than investing in America’s families. Will you promise not to support any budget that includes increases to Trump’s deportation force or any funding for his mass deportation agenda, even if that means withholding the votes needed to avert a government shutdown? What are you plans and tactics to rescind and defund the Muslim Ban?
If you can’t get to a town hall, please call Senator Wyden’s, Senator Merkely’s and your Representative’s office and ask them the above questions.
