BACKGROUND:
An 18-year veteran of the White House security office recently revealed Trump officials cavalierly overturned of security clearance denials to 25 high-level White House employees—due to possible foreign influence, conflicts of interest, problematic personal conduct, financial problems, drug use and/or criminal conduct. Among them were Trump’s daughter and son-in-law, who granted clearance on Trump’s order, despite White House Counsel’s and Chief of Staff’s opposition.
This demonstrates how irrational, reckless and politicized security clearance process became under Trump and how he continues to undermine our national security. While denigrating intelligence agencies, Trump denied access to critics but ensured allies got coveted clearances. Both make our country less secure.
Trump’s claim of non-involvement in ordering his daughter and son-in-law receive security clearances is as false as his claim of Mueller’s exoneration.
The American people have right to know extent of (1) Russian interference in 2016 election, (2) Trump’s obstruction of justice, (3) national security breaches in awards of security clearances.
Yesterday we rallied to pressure Attorney General Barr to immediately release the full Mueller report. Let’s keep up pressure on our MoCs through our calls and also demand Congressional investigation of Trump’s improper security clearance grants.
