  • push for legislation and oversight to ensure the security of our voting machines and elections

ACTION TWO: CALL YOUR HOUSE REP

Not sure who your U.S. Representative is? Find out here.

SAMPLE SCRIPTS FOR REPRESENTATIVES:

My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon [zip code]. I am calling because…
I am worried about Trump’s treats and the safety of our elections. I urge you to:
  • speak out against Trump’s threats of physical harm to diplomats, members of congress, and the press
  • insist on investigations of the information that has emerged since the 2 Articles of Impeachment were passed
  • push for legislation and oversight to ensure the security of our voting machines and elections

ACTION THREE: JOIN SENATOR MERKLEY’S TWITTER FEED AND SUGGEST QUESTIONS FOR HIM TO ASK DURING THAT PORTION OF THE SENATE TRIAL @SENJEFFMERKLEY

BACKGROUND:

Trump ordered, “Take her out” about Ambassador Yovanovitch and tweeted, “He has not paid the price, yet” about Representative Schiff. Trump has a history of calling for violence against politicians, journalists, and protestors who do not support him and of looking the other way when his international supporters commit violence. His demeaning name-calling is also aggression, especially when directed against women, People of Color, and Muslims and Jews. Other Trump Republicans like Pompeo also threaten and demeanreporters and colleagues who challenge them.
We need a president and cabinet members who do not threaten, incite, or condone violence, and we need a Senate that will uphold the Constitution. We need voter turn-out and free and fair elections so that we all feel safe.
We need the House to investigate Trump’s threats against Yavonovitch and Schiff and draft additional articles of impeachment, if indicated. We also need the House to investigate on-going threats to our elections.
Today, call your MOCs. Then sign up to register voters, join letter-writing events, and get out the vote. Today, we also have the opportunity to suggest questions for Trump’s trial on Senator Merkley’s twitter feed.
