BACKGROUND:
Trump had told more than 15,000 lies by mid-December. January revelations have added more. Trump and Secretaries Pompeo and Esper lied about an imminent threat from Soleimani:
- casualties in Iraq from Iran’s response
- Trump’s role in threats to Ambassador Yovanovitch’ssafety
- The NY Bar Association accused Barr of violating his oath of office
- Republican Senators announced they’d acquit Trump, swore to be impartial, and set rules precluding a fair trial.
Lies are a milestone on the road to tyranny. Lies prevent accountability. And lies lead to loss of trust in government, even when public safety is at risk.
We vote to ensure a government we can trust, one that will promote the common good, not tyranny. We vote to replace Trump’s Republicans with leaders who:
- we can trust to uphold the Constitution
- will restore public trust in government
- support accountability
- appoint and confirm trust-worthy cabinet members and judges
- pass needed legislation on the environment, gun control, health care, economic justice, etc.
Democrats in the House have worked to uphold the Constitution, impeach Trump, and pass legislation. By contrast, Trump Republicans have ignored, obfuscated, and lied. We must hold them accountable and vote them out.
