BACKGROUND:
Members of Congress swear an oath to support and defend the constitution of the United States of America. Trump’s impeachment trial shows which Members of Congress take this oath seriously.
- Led by Adam Schiff, house managers of the impeachment trial are meticulously outlining a damning, convincing case against Trump.
- Senate Democrats tried every maneuver they could to get witnesses and documents into the record thwarted whenLeader McConnell and all of Trump’s GOP voted these rules down.
- Trumps lawyers repeatedly lie from the Senate floor while Trump admits to obstruction of Congress.
- GOP senators insist there is no new information and are in “agony,” unable to stay and listen to the trial.
- Leader McConnell limits press access hoping the public will turn away.
Democrats in the House and Senate are doing their jobs and we must do ours. We must keep calling for a fair trial and increased press access. There will be another opportunity to vote on witnesses/documents. We must be able to see it and our Members of Congress need to have thousands of phone calls, messages in support of this.
