THIS DICTATORIAL PRESIDENT MUST BE STOPPED. BEGIN IMPEACHMENT INQUIRY NOW

ACTION ONE: CALL YOUR SENATORS

SAMPLE SCRIPT FOR WYDEN AND MERKLEY:

My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon [zip code]. I am calling because…
I am calling to express my outrage that Trump is continuing to behave like a dictator and that the House is doing nothing to demonstrate to him that he is not above the law. The immediate commencement of an impeachment inquiry in the House is the only way to rein Trump in, but time is running out. I implore the senator to use his voice and his standing in the Senate to convince House colleagues that they must act now. Thank you.

ACTION TWO: CALL YOUR HOUSE REPS

Not sure who your U.S. Representative is? Find out here.

SAMPLE SCRIPTS FOR REPRESENTATIVES:

My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon [zip code]. I am calling because…
SAMPLE SCRIPT (for Blumenauer and Bonamici):  I am calling to express my outrage that Trump is continuing to behave like a dictator and that the House is doing nothing to demonstrate to him that he is not above the law. The immediate commencement of an impeachment inquiry is the only way to rein Trump in. Please thank the Rep. for calling for an impeachment inquiry, but [he/she] must also impress on House colleagues that time is running out and, if the House fails to act soon, it might be too late. Thank you.

SAMPLE SCRIPT (For DeFazioSchrader, and Walden): I am calling to express my outrage that Trump is continuing to behave like a dictator and that the House is doing nothing to demonstrate to him that he is not above the law. The immediate commencement of an impeachment inquiry in the House is the only way to rein Trump in, but time is running out. If the House fails to act soon, it might be too late, so I demand that the Rep. formally join the 85 who have already called for an impeachment inquiry and use his voice to convince House colleagues to do likewise. Thank you.

BACKGROUND:

Trump continues his dictatorial ways, ignoring his constitutional duties and the constraints imposed upon him by its separation of powers. Since Congress has failed to rein him in—either through legislation or impeachment—he continues to act as if legislature and judiciary irrelevant—committing impeachable offenses almost daily.
Proposed citizenship question shows this clearly
  • lied to lower and Supreme courts about rationale and need for expedited decision
  • threatened to put off census which violates Constitution
  • refused to accept Supreme Court’s ruling rejecting citizenship question
  • ordered Justice Department to further lie to keep issue alive
 Other recent impeachable acts include
  • forcing Justice Department work to overturn ACA
  • ordering witnesses, including Mueller attorneys, to flout all congressional subpoenas and refuse to provide subpoenaed documents
  • ignoring court decisions protecting asylum-seekers and their children, law allowing asylum-seekers entry into U.S., and their right to interpreters
  • lying about deplorable conditions in concentration camps
  • encouraging ICE to terrorize asylum-seekers and arrest innocent bystanders
  • threatening to refuse to leave office at end of his term
House must clearly show Trump’s not above the law. But it must act soon. Remind our MoCs that immediate impeachment inquiry is only way to rein Trump in—before it’s too late.
