SAMPLE SCRIPTS FOR REPRESENTATIVES:

My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon [zip code]. I am calling because…
We need a strong federal response to coronavirus. I ask the Representative to demand that Congress stay in session and act during this coronavirus emergency by

BACKGROUND:

Whenever we get sick, we need medical care.  No matter who we are or where we are from, we rely on our medical and community institutions for that care.
But Trump and his administration put their political needs ahead of our health, our safety, and our economic security.  They destabilizedour economy with their 2018 tax cuts that went to their wealthy donors – and are trying with this pandemic to pass another one. They refuse to listen to experts and put Trump’s ego above the recommended steps to address the coronavirus pandemic.
Congress must step in and act.  They cannot go on recess and leave Trump to his own devices, worsening this crisissabotaging theresponse our country needs right now.
We must call our Senators and Representatives and demand that Congress stay in session and act during this coronavirus emergency by
  • Having daily Congressional COVID-19 briefings given by experts outside of the Trump administration
  • Passing a legislation package that puts our families first that includes food, medical care, paid time to care for ourselves/family, and worker protections
Our country has come together and faced down adversity before.  Congress must give us the tools to do this now.
