Background
In times of crisis, Americans deserve a government that warns us of upcoming difficulties ahead and works ceaselessly to protect us.
During our last two—the Civil War and the Depression—our leaders were Abraham Lincoln and Franklin Roosevelt. Unfortunately, during the coronavirus crisis, we’re stuck with Donald Trump, a lying narcissist concerned only with his own reelection.
In the middle of his impeachment trial, Trump was informed that COVID-19—highly contagious, deadly, and difficult to contain—was biggest national security threat he’d face as President. Rather than warning us of this threat and taking steps to combat it, he unconscionably denied its existence, continued to hold large-scale inside rallies, and knowingly put Americans at risk.
Trump’s lies and lack of leadership made America’s suffering greater, its death toll higher, and its economic and social costs more severe. Had our fatality rate been like Canada’s, over 100,000 Americans might still be alive.
Thus, the Senators who refused to remove Trump from office, together with Pence and the other Executive officials who perpetrated Trump’s lies, have blood on their hands.
It’s past time to boot them out. Let’s get to work. We have 53 days to clean house.
