Now that the impeachment process has started, I expect Senator [ ] to continue speaking out for an expeditious and transparent full House investigation of
(1) all aspects of Trump’s and his lackeys’ interference in the 2020 election and

It is also imperative that he do everything in his power to prepare Senate colleagues for the trial that will occur after the House approves Articles of Impeachment.

SAMPLE SCRIPTS FOR REPRESENTATIVES:

My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon [zip code]. I am calling because…
Now that the impeachment process has started, I expect Representative [ ] to do everything in [his/her] power to ensure that
(1) the House acts expeditiously and transparently, with public hearings, to fully investigate all aspects of Trump’s and his lackeys’ interference in the 2020 election,
(2) it continues investigating Trump’s other impeachable behavior —constitutional violations, abuses of power, and obstruction of Congress —that must also be included in the Articles of Impeachment
(3) Barr recuses himself from any involvement with any of these matters.

BACKGROUND:

The readout of Trump’s conversation with Ukraine’s President Zelensky and contemporary news accounts reveal Trump’s and Barr’s outrageous duplicity—as this chronology shows:
  • 7/20: Trump instructed Mulvaney to withhold $400 million in appropriated military aid
  • 7/24: Mueller testified before Congress
  • 7/25: During call to Zelensky, after Zelensky requested military aid, Trump asked for “favors,” repeatedly suggesting Zelensky work with Barr and Giuliani to investigate Biden and son
  • 8/12: Anonymous whistleblower complained to Inspector General
  • 8/26: IG determined report credible and urgent, transmitting it to acting DNI, as law required
  • 9/2: DNI, rather than transmitting report to Intelligence Committees, improperly forwarded it to Barr’s Justice Department, which found charges irrelevant
  • 9/2-23: Trump forced to admit, after denials, that had discussed Biden with Zelensky
  • 9/24: Released readout revealed “smoking gun.”
  • 9/25: Sent talking points to GOP legislators to minimize damage
As part of impeachment process, House must expeditiously and transparently
  • Obtain whistleblower’s complaint, IG’s report, Justice Department memoranda, and other relevant documentation
  • Investigate Barr’s involvement, that of Pompeo’s State Department, Giuliani’s possible criminality, Trump’s various unconstitutional acts
But it cannot lose sight of Trump’s other impeachable behavior that must also be included in the Articles of Impeachment.
