BACKGROUND:
The list of potential impeachable offenses grows every day. This week we saw:
- The WH again assert blanket executive privilege, completely blocking the testimony of two former officials plus, in another unprecedented move, limiting the testimony of Trump’s campaign chair, who has never worked in the Government
- Evidence that the FBI was directed to cut short the Kavanaugh investigation and failed to interview over 20 witnesses who corroborated allegations of sexual assault
- Alarm that the Trump WH or DOJ prevented a whistleblower account of “serious or flagrant” abuse regarding an intelligence activity from being reported, as required by statute, to the House Intelligence Committee
- Reporting that Trump was the subject of this whistleblower account and that he engaged in multiple acts, resulting in “urgent concern” on the part of the Inspector General
These potential additions to the list of impeachable offenses Trump has committed, including the still-unfolding whistleblower story, underscores the dangers Trump poses. He threatens the rule of law, by flagrantly violating norms and statutes. He undermines our institutions, like the FBI. He weakens our Constitutional system by aggrandizing the executive branch. And he endangers our national security.
Congress must stop him!
