CONGRESS MUST PROTECT OUR LIVES
ACTION ONE: JOIN US AT #INDIVISIBLETUESDAY
Join us today at 11:30 a.m. outside the offices of Sen. Wyden and Rep Blumenauer in the courtyard of the Federal building at 911 NE 11th Ave.
We will thank Senator Wyden for bearing witness at the border, supporting HR 8 and HR 1112*, voting NO on previous budgets that supported ICE/CBP, and supporting an impeachment inquiry.
We will thank Congressman Blumenauer for bearing witness at the border, voting YES on HR 8 and HR 1112*, voting NO on previous budgets that supported ICE/CBP and being a leader on impeachment inquiry in the House.
We will ask them to keep pushing for:

BACKGROUND:
What does it mean when our government enacts policies/takes positions that worsen/endanger our lives?
Trump and his GOP’s rolling back of environmental regulations, attacking our safety net, denying the climate crisis, have negative consequences for our lives.
Trump and his GOP’s escalating attacks on immigrants and inaction on gun violence will directly cost lives.
Trump and his GOP’s separation and treatment of families at the border will cause lifelong trauma. Their new policies of deporting immigrants with fragile medical conditions and denying flu vaccines to detained refugees will result in deaths.
The gun violence epidemic didn’t start with Trump and his GOP, but they actively obstruct containment of this issue. Trump capitulated to the NRA last month, promising no movement on background checks. Mitch McConnell refuses to allow a vote on gun violence legislation that passed the Democratically-led house months ago.
Much of Oregon’s Congressional delegation have acted to combat these heinous attacks on immigrants and championed gun violence legislation. We are thankful for their leadership and ask them to keep pushing for
- immediate impeachment hearings
- a budget that cuts ICE and CBP to “FY16” levels
- passage of meaningful gun violence prevention legislation
Lives depend on it.
