BACKGROUND:
Our democracy is crumbling under the Trump administration. Today we focus on two areas – Trump’s impeachable offenses of obstruction of justice and human rights abuses at the border.
Trump and his administration have and continue to commit impeachable offenses of obstruction of justice – as outlined in the Mueller report and as evident by the refusal to turn over documents and testify. As Congress performs their constitutional oversight duties, Trump and his politicized Department of Justice took the brazen step of asserting executive privilege over the ENTIRE Mueller report. Congress must hold Attorney General Barr in contempt and start an impeachment inquiry.
The lawlessness of the Trump administration extends to the treatment of immigrants at the border:
- Children continue to die in their care
- Records show the Trump administration had no way to reunite children – which is state-sponsored kidnapping
- Asylum seekers will be made to pay fees – as they flee for their lives
As these atrocities mount, the Trump administration makes requests for more border funding. Congress must deny this administration these funds – and stop these human rights violations.
This administration lawlessness is accelerating. We must be vigilant and persistent. Call our Members of Congress today.
