INDIVISIBLE WEEKLY TO DO'S

Act Indivisible: This Week’s To-Do List

  1. Now is the time to defeat TrumpCare. Senate Republicans are planning a TrumpCare vote this month. Nobody knows how it will go—we can win this. To help, we have brand new resources to help you tell your Senators to stop TrumpCare:
  2. Mark your calendars and spread the word: National Senate Call-In Day to stop TrumpCare is Wednesday, June 14. Help us spread the word.

  3. Tell your Representative to vote no on H.R. 2581, the Verify First Act. Another Affordable Care Act sabotage—and anti-immigrant—bill is on the House Floor this week and Republicans plan to vote on it on Tuesday. Demand that they vote no.

  4. Use this script and explainer to demand that your members of Congress support both an independent commission and impeachment hearings.

The Senate is the Last Line of Defense—and It’s Do or Die Time to Stop TrumpCare.

In back rooms, Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell are secretly twisting arms, cutting deals, and using every trick they can think of to get the votes to pass TrumpCare. They’re still a few votes short of repeal, but if they can get the votes, they’ll pass it in the dead of night, without reading the final bill, without public input, and without a CBO score. If they succeed, millions of Americans will lose access to health care. This is a matter of life and death—and they’re planning for a vote during the last week of June, or sooner if they can get the votes.
This could really go either way, so your local indivisible action over the next couple weeks will impact the outcome. That means, with everything going on in Congress (we know, it’s a lot), your number one priority must be killing TrumpCare once and for all. And we’ve got less than three weeks to do it.

Defend Democracy and Demand Impeachment Hearings Now.

As if we didn’t have our hands full with stopping TrumpCare, on Thursday, former FBI Director James Comey (a Republican) confirmed under oath what many of us already suspected and what the press has reported—that Donald Trump asked him to drop the investigation into disgraced former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn. Let’s be clear about what this means: the President of the United States knew that the FBI was investigating his associates, tried to stop that investigation, and then fired the person who wouldn’t stop it. This is obstruction of justice, a federal crime, and an impeachable offense.
That’s why we are urging our groups to demand their members of Congress support both an independent commission AND impeachment hearings. Impeachment won’t happen overnight—it will be a long-term fight, and we’ll be with you every step of the way.
There’s no getting around it—these next few weeks will throw a lot at us. Congressional Republicans will continue to try and push through their dangerous agenda while the whole world watches the continuing developments in the Russia investigation. We’ve got our work cut out for us, but a weeklong recess is just around the corner, and that will be your chance to hold your MoCs accountable for these four weeks of session. Until then, stand Indivisible, and we will win.
In solidarity,
