BACKGROUND:
We mourn all casualties of COVID-19 and cannot bring back lives lost. We can, however, guarantee that everyone has the financial resources to stay safely in their homes, feed their families, and protect their health. We need universal basic income for individuals and money paid directly to states bearing the burden of responding to the pandemic.
We look to a future where all have food, housing, and medical care – while Trump and his GOP cling to the past, where they and their donors profit while dividing us along race and economic lines.
We demand universal basic income, health care, money and medical supplies to states, and legislative oversight to ensure these happen. Trump and his GOP force low wage meat-packers and service workers to work in unsafe conditions without paid sick leave and at high risk of taking COVID-19 home to their already vulnerable communities, while shielding the corporations that employ them from liability for the resulting illnesses and deaths.
We are all in the same storm, but we are NOT in the same boat. We need a Congress #WhoCaresForUs and will provide universal basic income and money to state/city governments.
