SAMPLE SCRIPTS FOR REPRESENTATIVES:

My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon [zip code]. I am calling because…
For Blumenauer, Bonamici, DeFazio, Schrader I support the impeachment process. Meanwhile, I am worried that the continuing resolution will be used to pass anti-immigration policies Please oppose any increase in fees for immigration services, including DACA, and make sure the budget has no additional money and no inter-agency transfers to CBP or ICE. Thank you.
For WaldenRepublicans are tarred by their support for Trump’s racist immigration policies. Please change that narrative when the short-term continuing resolution is considered. Vote against any increase in fees for immigration services, including DACA, and make sure the budget has no additional money or inter-agency transfers to CBP or ICE. Thank you.

BACKGROUND:

As we move into the public phase of impeachment we must keep standing up for our neighbors and friends.  This week DACA is before the Supreme Court and the budget is being written.  We ask our Members of Congress to keep using the bully pulpit to stand up for DACA recipients and to put guard rails on federal immigration agencies in the continuing budget resolution.
1) Prohibit additional money for CBP or ICE and prohibit inter-agency transfers.
  • ICE and CBP are having trouble spending the increased funds they already have.
  • They are using funds for cruel, illegal tactics to keep Brown and Black people out of the United States.
 2) Seek prohibitions against fee increases proposed by US Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS).
  • New citizenship fees would go up 60 percent, from $725 to $1,170.
  • DACA applications would cost $765 instead of $495.
  • The US would become one of only four countries that charge asylum seekers to get into the country and to work here.
  • New fees would cover the $207 million transfer to ICE—exactly the kind of intra-agency transfers we want Congress to stop
