BACKGROUND:

Trump’s administration continues to violate human rights in pursuit of its’ white nationalist agenda.  It’s also violating domestic and international immigration and refugee laws:
  • Despite a court ruling to end family separation, over 900 children have been taken from their parents in the past year. Federal agents simply use a loophole meant to protect children.  Charges against parents are frequently minor infractions such as traffic tickets or even a claim that a father failed to change a diaper.
  • Criminally inhumane conditions at border detention facilities continue and more prison camps are being built.
  • U.S. citizens with government issued IDs and Spanish surnames are being arrested and detained.
  • Trump seeks to deny asylum to all refugees who pass through another country to reach the U.S.
  • Trump’s Attorney General unilaterally reversed a ruling on U.S. asylum law which extends protection to families of asylum seekers who are fleeing violence or persecution.
Trump is clear that the purpose behind his policies is to keep black/brown refugees from seeking haven in our country by any means possible, including intimidation and fear.
His actions are not only abhorrent they are crimes, and impeachable.  Congress must use their power to stop him.
