STOP THE CORRUPUTION OF OUR GOVERNMET
“I love money,” candidate Trump said proudly. As president, Trump is making money the way he did in the private sector – taking every opportunity to enrich himself and his family while driving the country into bankruptcy.
He is licensing his name to overseas projects while peddling coffee mugs and shot glasses with the presidential seal.
He raided the treasury with his “tax reform,” which will save him and other billionaires tens of millions but leave $1.5 trillion more in debts. The interest payments alone on that debt will soon be greater than the DOD budget.
He has assembled a cabinet of the super-rich and those who will do their bidding. They view regulations as barriers to greater wealth and are now dismembering their departments while pampering themselves at taxpayer expense.
This greedy crew is not hiding their motivation.
The OMB director Mick Mulvaney recently told bankers that manipulating lawmakers with campaign contributions is one of the “fundamental underpinnings of our representative democracy.”
The EPA Administrator has pulled a dozen energy lobbyists from the swamp and given them critical appointments to cut regulations.
We need Congress to follow the money and stop the corruption.
**ACTION 1: CALL BOTH SENATORS and YOUR REPRESENTATIVE**
SAMPLE SCRIPT – for our Members of Congress except Walden:
“My name is [--] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon [zip code]. I’m calling to say that Trump and his administration are the most corrupt in American history. Trump is selling access by directing business to his properties, selling his name and even the presidential seal. OMB director Mick Mulvaney has acknowledged campaign contributions open his door. This isn’t normal. I ask the Senator/Rep to ask for Trump’s tax returns and hold hearings to expose and stop this corruption. Thank you.”
SAMPLE SCRIPT – for Walden:
“My name is [--] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon, [zip code]. I am calling to encourage Rep Walden to restore ethical government by stopping the corruption that has been unleashed across government. This isn’t American and it’s not normal. It’s time for him to think of his constituents and not just his donors. We need to see Trump’s taxes and hold hearings to expose and stop this corruption. Thank you.”
**ACTION 2: REMEMBER THIS FOR THE MIDTERMS**
When the November elections arrive, ask yourself if government is working for you or for the very rich. Before then, get involved. Democracy needs to be saved from these people. It won’t happen with inspiring leaders arriving to save us. You need to be in the streets, stuffing envelopes, canvassing for worthy candidates and, most of all, voting. Do it now before it’s too late. Find resources at www.indivisibleor.org.
