RESTORE NET NEUTRALITY NOW
——————————————————————————
##FCCHandsOffTheNet
#NetNeutrality

Despite massive public opposition, Trump’s FCC voted 3-2 last December to reverse regulations protecting net neutrality, giving internet service providers (ISPs) new ways to control what we see, do, and say online. The absurdity of this action demonstrated by the viral Burger King/Net Neutrality video: http://bit.ly/2DAJ2ot

Proponents of a free and fair internet have been gearing up for a fight
• 21 states and District of Columbia filed suit in federal court in January to block FCC’s decision
• similar lawsuits filed by internet users and their trade organization
• 15 state legislatures, including Oregon’s, are drafting net neutrality laws
• 2 governors promulgated orders barring state agencies from contracting with ISPs that block or slow down web traffic

Congress is also poised to act—using the Congressional Review Act (CRA), which gives Congress 60 legislative days from publication in the Federal Register to reverse regulatory actions.
• 50 Senators already signed Resolution of Disapproval—enough to force Senate vote
• 110 signed similar petition in House

Since Federal Register publication likely next week, our MoCs in both chambers must move quickly to overturn this extremely unpopular, damaging FCC order and restore net neutrality.

**ACTION 1: CALL BOTH SENATORS and YOUR REPRESENTATIVE**

SAMPLE SCRIPT for Merkley and Wyden:
“My name is [--] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon [zip code]. I am calling to express my strong disapproval of the FCC’s order destroying net neutrality. I appreciate the Senator signing the resolution to use the Congressional Review Act to reverse this. The FCC order will soon be published in the Federal Register. I ask the Senator use his powers of persuasion to get other colleagues on board so that, once this happens, the Senate can move quickly to force its repeal. Thank you.”

SAMPLE SCRIPT for Reps Blumenauer, Bonamici, and DeFazio:
“My name is [--] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon, [zip code]. I am calling to express my strong disapproval of the FCC’s order destroying net neutrality. I appreciate the Representative signing the resolution to use the Congressional Review Act to reverse this. The FCC order will soon be published in the Federal Register. I ask the Representative use his/her powers of persuasion to get colleagues on board so that, once this happens, the House can move quickly to force its repeal. Thank you.”

SAMPLE SCRIPT for Rep Schrader:
“My name is [--] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon, [zip code]. I am calling to express my strong disapproval of the FCC’s order destroying net neutrality. The FCC order will soon be published in the Federal Register. I ask the Representative use his/her powers of persuasion to get colleagues on board so that, once this happens, the House can move quickly to force its repeal. Thank you.”

SAMPLE SCRIPT for Rep Walden:
“My name is [--] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon, [zip code]. I am calling to express my strong disapproval of the FCC’s order destroying net neutrality. The absurdity of this order is clearly demonstrated in the Burger King/Net Neutrality You Tube video, which I strongly urge Representative Walden to watch. Even though he received more in contributions from the telecom industry over the last 28 years than any other House member, I am asking him to put the needs of his constituents first and vote to restore net neutrality by overturning this extremely unpopular, damaging FCC order. Thank you.”

**ACTION 2:  SEND THIS TO YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY.

Share this post with friends and family, especially in red states. Urge them to view the Burger King/Net Neutrality YouTube video that demonstrates the absurdity of this FCC order. Help them call their Congressional delegation and do the following: (1) ask them to watch the Burger King/Net Neutrality YouTube video, (2) inform them the Congressional Review Act gives Congress only 60 legislative days after publication in the Federal Register to reverse this damaging FCC order and that this will occur within the next few days, (3) ask them vote “yes” on the Resolution of Disapproval of the FCC order so that net neutrality is restored.

**ACTION 3: CONTACT YOUR OREGON STATE REPRESENTATIVE TO SUPPORT HB 4155**

On February 13, 2018, state lawmakers will hold a hearing on HB 4155, which prevents ISPs doing business with state agencies from giving special treatment to any websites. Please call your representative, ask him/her to watch the Burger King/Net Neutrality You Tube video, and urge him/her to support HB 4155.
