ACTION TWO: CALL YOUR SENATORS

SAMPLE SCRIPT FOR WYDEN AND MERKLEY:

My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon [zip code]. I am calling because…
Please thank the Senator for forcefully speaking out against white supremacist Stephen Miller and calling on Trump to fire him, but he cannot stop thereWhile working to prepare the Senate for a fair impeachment trial, he must also insist that Congress (1) immediately begin investigating Miller and hiswhite supremacist colleagues in the Trump administration, (2) pass a resolution demanding their firing, and (3) withhold funding for ICE and CBP until they are all removed.

ACTION THREE: CALL YOUR HOUSE REP

Not sure who your U.S. Representative is? Find out here.

SAMPLE SCRIPTS FOR REPRESENTATIVES:

My name is [–] and I’m a constituent from [city], Oregon [zip code]. I am calling because…
For Blumenauer, Bonamici, and Defazio:  Please thank the Representative for forcefully speaking out against white supremacist Stephen Miller and calling on Trump to fire him, but [he/she] cannot stop thereIn addition to fulfilling [his/her] duty to vote for Trump’s impeachment[he/she] must also insist that Congress (1) immediately begin investigating Miller and his white supremacist colleagues in the Trump administration, (2) pass a resolution demanding their firing, and (3) withhold funding for ICE and CBP until they are all removed.
For Schrader: While over 140 members of Congress and the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, representing more than 220 national organizations, have called for the ouster of Stephen Miller, an avowed white supremacist, the Representative has been notably silent. This is unacceptable. In addition to fulfilling his  duty to vote for Trump’s impeachment, he must also insist that Congress (1) immediately begin investigating Miller and his white supremacist colleagues in the Trump administration, (2) pass a resolution demanding their firing, and (3) withhold funding for ICE and CBP until they are all removed.
For Walden: While over 140 members of Congress and the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, representing more than 220 national organizations, have called for the ouster of Stephen Miller, an avowed white supremacist, the Representative has been notably silent. Neither Miller nor his ideology belongs in government. I am asking the Representative to (1) put humanity and country over party, (2) vote to impeach this lawless President, and (3) convince Trump that Miller and his white supremacistcolleagues in his administration must immediately be removed.

BACKGROUND:

White nationalist Stephen Miller’s used his position to orchestrate an extreme anti-immigrant agenda:
  • the Muslim ban
  • the cruel family separation policy
  • forcing asylum seekers to wait in Mexico
  • DACA’s recission
  • pouring military funds into border wall construction
  • efforts to slash refugee admissions, limit asylum access, prevent TPS extensions, disqualify immigrants using public resources
Assisting him is a loose network of administration lawyers and advisors who concoct and implement these draconianinhumane policies.
Miller’s white supremacy, violent extremism and hate are antithetical to our democracy’s values and should bar him from government service.
Almost 40 Senators and 10Representatives (including most of our MoCs) and hundreds of civil rights organizations have called for Miller’s resignation or removal by the White House. To date, however, these pleas have been ignored.
We cannot continue to have our immigration policy determined by unelected, unconfirmed White House employees Trump’s shielded from Congress or allow them to ignore Congress while dismantling the immigration system through executive actions that gut existing regulations. Congress must begin formal investigations of Miller and his white supremacist colleagues and withhold funding from ICE and the Border Patrol until these purveyors of violent extremism and hate are rooted out and removed.
