Join us at #IndivisibleTuesday Tuesday, December 3rd at 11:30AM in the courtyard of Sen. Wyden’s and Rep. BACKGROUND:

While we continue to support the impeachment inquiry, we ask Congress to insist the next budget defunds hate.
69,550 children: The Trump administration held a record 69,550 immigrant children in its custody in 2019 – up 42% from 2018.  These children are being held away from their families despite knowing that such detention causes long lasting trauma.
60,000 refugees: The Trump administration has forced approximately 60,000 refugees seeking asylum to wait in Mexico – forced to live in the elements, with little legal support, and subject to kidnappings, extortion, and abuse. Families are growing so desperate they are sending their children across the border as unaccompanied minors.
3 deaths: in 2018 at least 3 children died of the flu which is “nine times higher than the expected death rate for children from flu, yet the Trump administration will not vaccinate migrants in holding centers against the flu.
Cruelty is the point.  We ask our MoCs to protect our neighbors and defund hate by insisting the budget:
  • cuts the overall funding for CBP and ICE
  • blocks back door funding/intra agency transfers of funds to CBP and ICE
  • includes strong guard rails to prevent abuse at CBP/ICE facilities
