FLOWERY PRAISE FOR BIDENS
Indivisibles are happy to know there’s a flowering plant called a Bidens. It is sturdy, though not flashy. It’s not invasive and works well with neighboring plants. If treated well and in the right environment, it lasts a long time, year after year. You can count on Bidens to brighten your garden. Choose a Bidens, and make your yard a welcoming place for all plants to thrive.  INCO activist Laurie Caplan found the Bidens at Lyle's in Seaside.

PERSISTENCE AND DUTY VS. PRETENSE AND OBSTRUCTION
Journalist Dan Rather examines President Biden's skilled debt-ceiling negotiations that prevented the GOP from causing a global economic disaster.

"AN IMPACT IMPOSSIBLE TO MEASURE"

"Remember: just as the flap of a butterfly’s wings on one side of the world can change the course of history on the other, so can our small actions make an impact impossible to measure or understand in places we can scarcely imagine. So let’s do the things we know to do, and then sit back and trust that what unfolds will be better because we used our voices.

"In the end I feel sure that our side will get the better end of the deal. Why?

"Because it has all the best people on it. Including you."
-- Jessica Craven; Chop Wood, Carry Water, May 31, 2023

STILL TRUE 78 YEARS LATER
“Fascism is not the easiest thing to identify and analyze, nor, once in power, is it easy to destroy. It is important for our future and that of the world that as many of us as possible understand the causes and practices of fascism, in order to combat it.”

Fascism's "objective is seizure and control of the economic, political, social, and cultural life of the state.”

Fascists “make their own rules and change them when they choose…. They maintain themselves in power by use of force combined with propaganda based on primitive ideas of ‘blood’ and ‘race,’ by skillful manipulation of fear and hate, and by false promise of security. The propaganda glorifies war and insists it is smart and ‘realistic’ to be pitiless and violent.”

-- Historian Heather Cox Richardson shares info from the US War Department booklet for US Army personnel serving in World War 2 in Europe. On March 24, 1945, the topic for the week was “FASCISM!” .
TELL SENATOR WEBER TO DO HER JOB
In her newsletter, Weber continues to boast about how hard she's working. Unfortunately, she's working hard as a shameless adversary of democracy, a promoter of division, and an opponent of the legislative process.
