GOOD GOVERNMENT AND AMERICA'S ECONOMIC RECOVERY
"Biden is on a winning streak; he is doing a masterful job managing the U.S. response to the Ukrainian war; he has presided over the largest job-creation boom of any president; he has secured passage of two major pieces of legislation during his first year in office; and he has appointed dozens of federal judges. And, if you haven’t noticed, he is speaking with renewed vigor and confidence in his press briefings."
— Robert Hubbell, Substack newsletter, March 30, 2022

"The U.S has added 1.7 million jobs between January and March, and unemployment is near an all-time low of 3.6%. As employment has risen, employers have had to raise wages to get workers. So, wages are up 5.6% for the year that ended in February.

"Inflation in the U.S. is the highest it’s been in 40 years at 7.9%, but those high numbers echo other developed countries. In the 19 countries that use the euro, inflation rose by an annual rate of 7.5% in March, the highest level since officials began keeping records for the euro in 1997."
-- Heather Cox Richardson, Substack newsletter, April 1, 2022

STEADY OURSELVES
"Each human act of support to others is one that helps heal our world. Even now, with so much anxiety and chaos destabilizing our country and beyond, we can grip firmly onto what is good and just and use it to steady ourselves for the work to be done."
—Dan Rather, "Steady," on Substack, March, 27, 2022
