"The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy."

— Martin Luther King, Jr., Strength to Love, 1963

“We have also come to this hallowed spot to remind America of the fierce urgency of Now. This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy.”
-Martin Luther King, Jr., "I Have A Dream" speech, Washington, D.C., August 28, 1963

  1. Demand Your Representative commit to vote yes on H.R. 1, the For the People Act, which focuses on key democracy reforms, when it reaches the House floor. H.R. 1 is an important first step towards building an equitable democracy, along with the D.C. statehood bill and John Lewis Voting Rights Act. Without a functional democracy in which everyone is included and represented, we can’t achieve any of our other progressive goals. All the issues we care about deeply: health care, immigration, ending wars, racial justice, climate change -- fixing these things requires a democracy that is responsive to the people, not the powerful and wealthy.
  2. Read and share our explainer on H.R. 1, what’s included in it, and why it’s important to pass right now to help spread the word about the importance of this legislative work.
We urge all Indivisibles to call on their US Senators to support Trump’s immediate removal.

INCO encourages you to read Indivisible's  newest guide, Indivisible: A Practical Guide for Fixing Our Democracy.  It was prepared for this moment of tremendous peril and possibility. We have written a guide specifically for the year-long window of opportunity created by the Democratic trifecta.

President-Elect Biden unveiled sweeping plans to take care of us. His COVID relief bill provides direct payments to individuals, cities, and states so we can be safe in our homes and vaccinated. His companion plan revitalizes the economy, protects our planet with green infrastructure, and provides a living wage and new jobs. We know a Democratic Senate can quickly pass COVID relief and at the same time confirm his experienced and diverse nominees and conduct a trial to hold Trump accountable for the traumatizing insurrection against us and our democracy that he incited; while the House continues to work on our progressive agenda.

From Indivisible Oregon. Please call! Contact info is here.
