BACKGROUND:
The wheels are coming off our democracy.
— Trump has walked away from his job except when it benefits him or shores up his racist isolationism. In the past few weeks alone, he rescued Roger Stone probably to keep Stone quiet, pulled funding from the WHO, ordered protections for Confederate statues, and threatened to cut off funds and rescind tax exemptions of schools that don’t reopen. He does nothing to protect us from the virus.
—The Senate won’t hold Trump accountable so Congress is stymied.
—The courts are increasingly vulnerable to politics and surprise us when they rule in favor of the rule of law.
The Senate briefly returns July 20th before adjourning again for the campaign season. While in session, Congress must pass the HEROES Act intact. The economy will fall like dominoes when 33 million jobless people see their incomes plummet by at least half overnight.
