INCO Weekly Newsletter 7/9

We love what Lolly Champion, of Cannon Beach, wrote about INCO's  Rally to Keep Families Together:
“It was a day that restored my resolve to know that the large and growing collective WE can bring our values back to the center of our democracy.”

Welcome to New Indivisibles!
We're delighted to have you working with us to defend democracy!

--Deb and Laurie
INCO Co-Chairs
INCO'S CANDIDATE ENDORSEMENTS
The leadership team of Indivisible North Coast Oregon (INCO) met on June 28 and endorsed the following candidates running for state and federal office in our region:

•  Tiffiny Mitchell (D), Oregon House District 32
•  Kate Brown (D), Oregon Governor

•  Suzanne Bonamici (D), Oregon Congressional District 1

INCO is not endorsing candidates for city and county office. We encourage our members to campaign for local candidates of their choice. Read the entire announcement.

We're in the midst of a right-wing takeover of every branch of our federal government.
Your country needs you to show up, stand up, speak up.

Tell Your Members of Congress to:
• Uphold the rule of law and protect our democracy.  Restore trust in the judiciary, media, and in all the other civic institutions being deliberately attacked by Trump and his administration. Congress is supposed to be one of three branches of government - not the puppet of the Executive branch.

• Delay the hearings and confirmation of a new Supreme Court Justice until after the winners of the November election take office.  National Indivisible just released its guide on the SCOTUS campaign - please review and share widely!

•  Develop and enforce a humane, practical bipartisan immigration policy.

• Protect all Americans. Stand with people who need help getting medical care and enough food to eat.  Stop the administration's attacks on America's allies and embrace of America's totalitarian enemies. Demand effective government actions to deal with climate change. Provide meaningful help for Puerto Rico's recovery from Hurricane Maria. Oppose  nominees to be federal judges who fail to support equal rights for all people.

INSIGHTS
"Do not get lost in a sea of despair. Be hopeful, be optimistic. Our struggle is not the struggle of a day, a week, a month, or a year, it is the struggle of a lifetime. Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble."
~ Rep. John Lewis
We're Ready!
Here's INCO's plan if Trump crosses one of three red lines that threatens the rule of law as it relates to the investigation: fire Mueller, fire Rosenstein, or pardon key figures.
  • If actions are triggered BEFORE 2 p.m. local time —> events will begin @ 5 p.m. local time.
  • If actions are triggered AFTER 2 p.m. local time —> events will begin @ noon local time the following day.
We'll take to the streets to Rally for the Rule of Law at 8th and Commercial in Astoria. Indivisibles across the nation will be gathering according to this schedule.

We'll post info about a Rally for the Rule of Law on our INCO Facebook page and email an Action Alert. You can also sign up (RSVP) for a notification here.
