Thanks to Bebe, Eric, Russ, and the other Indivisibles who made this event happen on July 18 in Seaside. More photos are below.
Oregonians United Against Profiling
• Rally and Campaign Kick-off •

Saturday, July 28 at 11 a.m.
16th and Marine Drive, Astoria
Bring signs and chants

This rally is one of many statewide events on July 28th to mobilize Oregonians to defeat Measure 105 in November's election.

Hosted by La Voz de la Cominidad and INCO, coordinating with Oregonians United Against Profiling
If it passes, Measure 105 would throw out Oregon's sanctuary state law, which has helped protect Oregonians from unfair racial profiling for more than 30 yearsIf Measure 105 passes, it could open the door to racial profiling and families being torn apart, simply because someone is perceived to be an undocumented immigrant.

Suggested signs:  Keep Oregon a Sanctuary State, Immigrants welcome here, Dignity and Decency in Oregon, Defeat Measure 105, Stop Racial Profiling, Defeat Hate, etc.

Your country needs you to show up, stand up, speak up.

Tell Your Members of Congress to:
• Uphold the rule of law and protect our democracy.  Pressure your GOP colleagues to assert Congress' role as a co-equal branch of government, not as a servant of the President. Protect Mueller, Rosenstein, and the Russia investigation that has already led to indictments and convictions of Trumpsters and Russians. Restore trust in the judiciary, media, and in all the other civic institutions being purposely undermined by Trump and his administration.

• Delay the hearings and confirmation of a new Supreme Court Justice until after the winners of the November election take office.  Mr. Kavanaugh is a well-known Washington insider and right-wing extremist, even in his judicial decisions. National Indivisible wrote its guide on the SCOTUS campaign - please review and share widely!

•  Develop and enforce a humane, practical bipartisan immigration policy.

• Protect all Americans. Stand with people who need help getting medical care and enough food to eat.  Stop the administration's attacks on America's allies and embrace of America's totalitarian enemies. Demand effective government actions to deal with climate change. Provide meaningful help for Puerto Rico's recovery from Hurricane Maria. Oppose  nominees to be federal judges who fail to support equal rights for all people.
Confront Corruption: Keep Russia Out of Oregon's Elections! Opponents of the Trump administration's corruption protested in about 150 events around the country.
•  August 8th: 2 Big INCO Events  •
6 pm:  Really Do Care - Informal discussion about activism for the Under 40-ish. Featuring Thomas Rogers, campaign manager for Tiffiny Mitchell's campaign for the state legislature. Kids corner available for parents attending.

7 pm:  Speak Up! Prosperity & Politics -  conversation with DC-based journalist and author, Chris Lehmann

Both events at the Lovell Showroom, 426 14th Street.
Free and open to all. Doors open at 6 pm. No-host food and drink.

They contributed through national Indivisible's temporary fundraising program which is matching donations up to $500 - minus $50 to help cover costs. The proceeds will support our Storm the Midterms work and an essay contest in the fall about democracy for area high school students.
Contributions through our regular donation site are always welcome.
A dozen Manzanita-area Indivisibles wrote 70 postcards to support progressive Danny O'Connor in a close Ohio Congressional race at their first Storm the Midterms Postcard Party. Thanks to Cheryl and Dick for hosting!

INSIGHTS
“...we have to realize that "freedom of speech" entails responsibilities for all of us. When honest reporters, honest politicians, and honest citizens fail to directly challenge the falsehoods, we are not promoting freedom of the press or opinion, but facilitating a process that destroys democracy.”

— Martin, Reader’s Comment, New York Times online
We're Ready!
Here's INCO's plan if Trump crosses one of three red lines that threatens the rule of law as it relates to the investigation: fire Mueller, fire Rosenstein, or pardon key figures.
  • If actions are triggered BEFORE 2 p.m. local time —> events will begin @ 5 p.m. local time.
  • If actions are triggered AFTER 2 p.m. local time —> events will begin @ noon local time the following day.
We'll take to the streets to Rally for the Rule of Law at 8th and Commercial in Astoria. Indivisibles across the nation will be gathering according to this schedule.

We'll post info about a Rally for the Rule of Law on our INCO Facebook page and email an Action Alert. You can also sign up (RSVP) for a notification here.
