4-3-23 Newsletter

Simon has been deeply involved with Democratic politics since the 1990s and as a strategist and advisor to the Obama administration. He founded the National Democratic Network and the New Policy Institute, a Washington, D.C. think tank and has now moved his work online to work directly with grassroots organizations.

Check out Simon on his new Substack newsletter,
Hopium Chronicles. You can also find him on Twitter and subscribe to his YouTube channel.

All INCO members are invited to this COIN meeting on Tuesday, April 4, at 7:00 pm, via Zoom. Register for COIN meetings here (just once for all 2023 meetings).
THE INDICTMENT
"That’s not to say we can’t be simultaneously committed to a fair process and celebrate the indictment. The simple fact that the former president was investigated and charged by a grand jury like anyone else is an enormous victory for the rule of law. Today we celebrate twin American principles: no one is above the rule of law, and everyone is entitled to its protections."
-- Joyce Vance,
Civil Discourse newsletter, March 30, 2023

Dan Pfeiffer suggests how to talk about the indictment in his Substack newsletter. He was Senior Advisor to the President Obama for strategy and communications.
LEGISLATORS NEED YOUR FEEDBACK
Visit COIN's Legislation 2023 web page for updates on bills COIN has endorsed or opposed, or bills we are still watching. Legislators won't know what you want unless you tell them. Please take a moment to comment on at least one of the bills on COIN's Legislation web page.
KUDOS TO CANDIDATES
Good news about people running for office! There's a candidate for nearly every open position in the May 16 Special Districts election. In fact, only a handful of positions have no candidates. Unfortunately, only a handful of positions have 2 or more candidates running. Check out the list of candidates here.

INSIGHTS
"Heroism often is not in rescuing or crusading or executing grand gestures, but in remaining a consistent force of decency and integrity through waves of emotional temptation."
